For more about how your current local newspapers are being saved today read the
Newspaper Preservation Blog Post for ISL:
II) Tips for NP research
A) A single newspaper publication sometimes shows up under slightly different titles, different date ranges, but it is all one continuous title publication
B) We will discuss this later, but the Legacy microfilm index will help you decide where to look for specific dates in a specific town/county.
C) When you send articles or pages to a patron, try file naming them according to the title, date and page number to “build-in” tracking and bibliography assistance. Example: GreeneCtyDaily_Jun_13_1970_p_3_smith obit
III) From First (quickest results) to Last (slowest results):
A) Newspaper Archive- large collection, keyword searchable
B) Newspapers.com- large collection, keyword searchable
C) Newspapers.com (INSPIRE)- small collection, Indiana only, keyword searchable*
D) Proquest- small collection, Indiana only, keyword searchable, add other sources
E) Hoosier State Chronicles- small collection, Indiana only, keyword searchable*
F) Indiana Legacy Newspaper (Microfilm) – Large collection, Indiana only
G) Print collection in vault – Large collection, Indiana only
